Good morning everyone,
Its been a while since I've gotten out to shoot my 22-250 Utra Varminter. But, after doing the trigger job (FAQ's), and free Floating the Forearm on the Choate stock, my best group was .576" @ 100yds. The load was 36.9 gr of H-380 with a 55gr Hornady SP stuffed in the case.
Since then, I made myself an OAL gauge, with a new, resized case. I slit the case neck in four places with my Dremel tool. This allows a bullet to freely slip in the case neck. It seems my rifle has a long throat! My OAL measured 2.380", with a 52 gr Hornady BTHP Match bullet. ( Yes it will be a different length with different bullets) So, I loaded up ten shells. The load was 36.9gr of H-380 , 52 gr Hornady BTHP Match bullet ( 3600 fps). I set my length at 2.375". I headed to my range. Once again ,laying in the snow (Still to lazy to pull my bench out of the barn, lol) 25 degreesF,off the bipod, she shot a nice .319" group @100 yds
Yep, I think she's a keeper!
