I'd suggest AA 1680 and IMR4227
250 25.0 starting 4227 & 32.0 1680
300 24.6 starting 4227 & 26.5 1680

Well you have been the only one to offer a load. looking at the 1680 and a 300 grain xtp. any advise or precautions?
This is a caliber I have wanted for years. know that there are better ones out there for handgun hunting, but this has been on my wish list for years. finally found a good used one at a deal. now it is time to work up a load. hunting white tail and hogs, 50 yard max shots. finding various loads for 1680, hoping for an accurate load around 1500 fps. :)
THANKS,BOBBY

Flyrod we must have the same gun.

I don’t use AA1680, but I shoot the same Hornady bullets.

Starline Cases.

My best loads are the following.

240 gr. Hornady XTP
Trim to 1.590 and COL of 1.925
21.3gr. VihtaVuori N105 gives me 1571 fps on my chrony.

300 gr. Hornady XTP
Trim to 1.590 and COL of 1.925
17.4gr. VihtaVuori N105 gives me 1342 fps on my chrony.

Software tells me that these loads are in the 35,400 PSI range.

Lyman Handbook, titled Pistol and Revolver. The one with an article from Hank Williams Jr. in it. Page 202-my favorite load is 35 gr. of 1680 with a Lyman cast bullet(no.429640), mine come out at 280gr., Fed. Lg. Pistol primer, mag., (no. 155) Starline brass. I know your not shooting a cast bullet. Same manual,300gr. jacketed, 35grs. is max, suggested start load is 31gr. with that bullet. AA1680 just always seemed to give me alittle better accuracy.(gun is a 10'' Dan Wesson)-gypsyman
