My H&R 1871 Buffalo Classic Rifle
« on: August 02, 2007, 07:20:32 PM »
My 1871 Buffalo Classic Rifle is back from Robar.  The receiver is done in NP3 and the barrel is matte black Roguard.  The rear sight is a Wesson & Harrington Long Range Sight, adjustable to 1000 yards,  and the front sight will soon be a Shaver New Style 17A.  Right now it is a Lyman Globe with a Shaver insert.

The butt stock cover was done by Levergun.

Special thanks to my brother for letting me use his 150 year old cottonwood tree at his country house near the Rockies.  MV out!

Looks like a standard checkered walnut BC stock, some have more figure than others. ;)

Thanks for the comments.  I bought this rifle new and sent it off to Robar.  I have not even shot it yet.  The finish cost $320.  I know that is allot, but this rifle will last several generations.  The stock is the original walnut.  I did replace the screws in the rear sight with 6-48x.200 torx from Brownell's.  Brownell's orders are very fast nowadays.  The front sight is .404, but I am going to the Lee Shaver when it gets here.  I will modify the sight post if I have too.  MV out!
