H&R Replacement Trigger Guard and forend spacer.
« on: August 31, 2007, 03:53:45 AM »
I have not heard these mentioned here.
Has anyone tried the Moyer's  steel or brass replacement trigger guard and fore end spacers?
The prices seem reasonable to allow you to trash the originals. I just wonder if they fit and function ok...especially the fore end spacer.

I've been wanting something along the line of the brass trigger guard for the BC.  It'd be mighty fine to find out how well these items are fitted and how durable they are.

I ordered a brass set to match the gold tone hammer on my 45-120 BC!! I did an internet search on them, they were in business in 2004, so hopefully they're good to do business with.

Why don't one of you handi-holics or a bunch of you explain to them how valuable it could be to them to advertise here on THE H&R/NEF site on the internet.

I will do that Bill, but I'd like to see the quality of their work first, those prices seem awfully low compared to the factory parts, $32 shipped for the brass parts, compared to $71 plus shipping from H&R for blued, when they were available.

Guys,
Some of Moyer's other parts are sold by Midway and they are not getting the highest feed back marks.
I hope his H&R stuff is better rated. For the prices he is asking they almost have to be investment cast or MIM (metal injection molded) parts.
I don't much care what process is used if they look fit, function and last well.

I bet the brass trigger guard would look wicked on my new Ultra. I may have to look into that. Thanks for the link and the heads up on that info guys.

Yeah, I ordered the trigger guard and spacer for the 45-120 BC to match the gold hammer, but I'm beginning to think they're a bogus outfit. :-\

Maybe they are waiting for shipment from China, since they don't answer the
e-mail. They look pretty good on paper. Since my for-arm spacer is perfectly bedded I won't endulge in changing.

I don't mind the factory plastic trigger guard, it works well enough. If it works don't fix it.

I just got an email from Tom Moyer this AM, or late last night.
Said he was sorry, he just returned from a hunting trip and was a little behind. So I hope all your questions and emails will be answered. Please post if they aren't. I'm planning to order a couple of sets myself.

Well, I ordered mine today. One for each, 38-55 and the 45-70.
Don't know about the muzzlebreaks. Never was a fan of them. But, I never was a fan of magnum rifles either. Too old and wimpy.
Plus in WI I don't know what you would shoot with one or where. Everything we have here you can shoot with a 30-30.

I guess I can't for the life of me imagine why you'd do that when in this very thread we have folks who have had them on order for many months and still don't have them and the company doesn't even communicate with folks who have them on order. Folks do strange things it seems to me.

I agree GB, but usually it's strange people that do strange things. I will be watching this post with great interest for the first report about these pieces received by a member here. I would like to get a couple
of each also but am worried about the response, or rather lack of response, by Mr. Moyer....<><....:)

I got an email from him the day after I sent him a question and then placed an order. I got an acknowledgement of the order the same day. That was of course before I saw that someone was waiting for 2 1/2 months. Maybe wouldn't have ordered if I'd seen the post first.
I guess we'll see.

GB is right!! Folks do strange things. It makes absolutely no sense to order an unknown product from an unknown company that has not been comunicating with their customers. That said , I just rolled the dice and ordered a set. Strange folks do strange things.

I was struck by something odd on this web site. If you click on trigger guards you'll find they make one for the Browning A-bolt, just a simple loop with two bolt holes which is priced at $93.00. One for the Ruger 77 is a bit more complex because it has the floorplate latch but costs $69.00, while the one for the H&R is far more complex than the other two and costs only $17.00????
The story of David & Goliath only demonstrates the superiority of ballistic projectiles over hand weapons, poor old Goliath never had a chance.
