Mod 97 round butt

  Saw a 4 1/4" Mod 97 with micarta grips in .41 Mag with the round butt option on Gun Broker and am thinking that it would be just about the perfect walking in the woods gun for me. It has the 3 lb. trigger and what a potent little belt gun it would make with a 250 CPGC and a medium dose of HS6...........

 BUT.....The price is what a new Mod 83 would go for. I've got a dandy Mod 83 but have never even seen much less handled a Mod 97. My question is this.....Do any of you have an opinion on the the merit of the round butt or its being worth the $175 option price??

It offers better concealment, and some have said they feel it helps moderate the felt recoil. I prefer the standard grip configuration, because the square butt provides better support and control in my palm. For me, the standard 83 grip is very, very good, and I like it a lot... but the 97 grip is " perfect ".
Your hand and experience may be different.

I have an 83 and a 97.  The 97 has the round but.  It does not seem to hamper recoil control at all ( I have small hands mind you, size 8.5 glove).  I shoot 300gr LBTs at 1200fps with no issues.

 That's a fine looking pair of Freedoms you've got there. The round butt with a 4 1/4" barrel on the 97 gives the gun a "balanced" appearance. Sharp.
