28 gauge round ball load

 since there is no data from the powder companies  I started from
 scratch for a 28 ga. slug after a lot of studying and some experiments
 this is what I have got so far
 it's safe in my gun but  may not be in other guns. The 14.5gr load is well under Aliant's
data for ľoz  loads of 18gr of Bluedot.


 first you need hollow punches in 1/2 and 7/16 
 you punch 7/16 wads from concrete expansion board 1 for each shell
 you punch 1/2 cards from a shotgun shell box  1 each shell
 remington sts hulls
 speer .490 round ball
 waa28  wad
 cci209 primer
 14.5 gr. bluedot powder
 corn meal
  I use a lee  1.3 dipper for powder it is ~14.5 gr.
 prime and charge the shell the 7/16 wad goes in the bottom of the
 shotcup with the r.b.
 on top of wad in the shotcup loaded into hull as one unit
 lee 1.0 dipper of corn meal on top of ball 1/2 card on top of corn
 meal and crimp
 I use the meal to get it to crimp decent
 firing this out of the 22" mod youth barrel getting ~4" group at 40
 yards
 once I get a guard made to protect the display on my chrony from the
 wads I will chronograph  it  don't think I'd use it on a deer but  I
 think it would ruin a coyotes day big time

have you checked out the ballistic products light game 28 round ball set up? Your load seems to work really well though. The ballistic products slug set ups are 7.99 for 25 of them.

I try to use stuff that I can buy locally when possible. Besides the old gentleman that owns the little gun shop I buy supplies from is what I consider a Genuine American Hero, WWII he flew dive bombers and fighter planes in the Pacific theater  and served clear up to the 80's  start out as an enlisted man went all the way to colonel worked many years in ballistic testing. he is a wealth of knowledge
