Sixshooter: I'd have to look back through my records to get an exact date, but it seems to me that it's an '88 or '89. Found it literally caked with cosmoline (and like new) on a used rack two years ago. $200 OTD
. A bit of a story here: I took the gun to the range with great excitement, after some attempts to clean up the barrel and action. To my chagrin, the beast wouldn't pop the cap! First, I replaced the main hammer spring. Still, no good. Eventually I had to strip the bolt and clear all cosmoline out of the firing pin channel. Viola!
I've been interested to read the shooting experiences others have had with the new ammo. Clearly works very well for some and no so well for others. Seems to me that Hornady has come up with a good product...and with prices on other ammo going through the roof, the Lever Evolution stuff is even priced competetively. Still, I have plenty of "Plain Jane" stuff from the major ammo manufacturers on hand, and it remains excellent in quality, accuracy and game-getting efficiency. Remington Core-lokts and Winchester Power-Points will be riding in our family Marlins on November 15.
Good luck with your 30AS! (Let us know how you fare).
