RB .41 mag makeover!
« on: December 16, 2007, 06:09:20 AM »
After leaving my midway catalog open on a Weaver 2X scope for three days in a row with lipstick marking the silver one my wife finally caught on and got me one for my Birthday. I got it installed yesterday cant wait to shoot it next week.  Going to my BIL's lease next weekend to cull some does and hogs hope to give it a good workout. Anyone had problems with this scope it had good ratings on the web sites? Thanks

my buddy has had one on his smith for 25+years. never a problem. i'd say you'll be fine with a 41 mag. dan

Well the scope sighted in very easy. Has excellent eye relief.  Shot a doe at 45yds broke near shoulder and got a exit using handload 20.5 gr H110 and 210 rem JSP.  She went down like lightning hit her.

Coop I have 2 Weaver's and am very pleased with both ;D. A 2X is on a SRH 480  for about 3 or 4 years now with no problems. The other is a 2.5x8 on a  Taurus Raging Bee(218 bee). I really like this set up too.The eye relief is very forgiving with the Weaver's. I will probably get one more 2.5x8 for my .223 super14 contender later this year.

Sniper,  I've got a .218 Bee Tracker - What loads work for you?    (maybe a new thread)
Vote them all out, EVERY election!

Does anyone remember the scene from "Quigley Down Under" showing the aborigines lined up on the skyline as far as you could see?   That needs to be US!

jcn59  I wish I could help but I'm still experimenting myself ;) H-4198 showed some promise but all the powder was not getting burnt in the barrel(there was some unburnt powder in the barrel after firing)but it was shooting descent groups. I then switched to some IMR-4227 and had some pressure sings with my first load so I'll back it down some and try again when it warms up this spring. For Bullets the 40gr' Blitzking did well at 100yd. so far.

coop, something tells me that r.b. in a 41 mag is a joy to shoot. i've got a blaqckhawk, and it's a good shooter,
but that taurus sure is tempting. dan

I love it Dan, I started reloading for it so I could shoot it more. And have enjoyed that as well.  I mostly bow hunt but had a contender 10" 30-30 about 10yrs ago but there's something different about this revolver, I have enjoyed hunting with it more this yr than I have with a gun in the last 25yrs. I think I have a new best friend in this RB! ;)
