Chamber adapter for Contender .?.Has anyone tried them ?
« on: January 02, 2008, 06:19:58 AM »
Hello..Does anyone know anything about  chamber adapters ? I saw one on another site that claims to turn a Contender  .223 barrel into a 22LR . Is that a viable option vs buying a second barrel.?

Thanks ,
 Randy

I made one to do that. Worked great but was kind of a pain to use. Had to pick out the cases with a small pick after firing. In my opinion they are not worth the trouble. Buy a used 22 barrel.

Thanks..That is one of the things I wondered about..I also read it's hard to get the adapter out and they break sometimes during removal.

i think the big thing is a .223 remington is really .224 and a 22lr is not.

Yes I tried them in several calibers. Accuracy was not good. I thought it would be a good thing for a survival kit.Hitting squirrels and rabbits at 40 to 50 yards was SOME times done ,most time just lucky. An extra box of the PROPER ammo would be better. They are a fun way to get a kid into shooting a cf gun.
