For rounds with heavy recoil, SSK's T'SOB 6 screw, 4 ring mounts.  This is what I have on my 7mm/08 handgun barrel but it's probably a bit more than I really need.

For rounds with light recoil, either T/C's Duo-Rings or a Weaver style base.

I personally prefer the Weaver base and a set of Weaver Quad-Lock rings.

Really tough to beat.

For my harder kickers I mount a 6-screw version (I drill my own base, my T/C Custom Shop barrels are purchased this way...) of the Weaver base and use 3 Weaver Quad-Lock rings.

I've had the T'SOB in the past and it's an excellent scope mount, but just a bit pricey.  The system I currently use has been just as effective.

This picture is my current scope mount setup:

A T/C Encore base (Sold in a T/C labeled package, but made by Weaver) drilled for 6 screws, and 3 Weaver Quad Lock rings.  I have had excellent results using this type of mount on both a 15" 7 Rem Mag barrel and a 15" 280 AI barrel, both un-braked.

Rog

Burris Dual Dovetail Pistol Base because it does not hang over the taper of the barrel very much, comes in black rather than only matte like the Leupold as is less likely to need extension rings like the Leupold (comparing DD mounts in both brands).  I use Leupold DD rings.  I suppose the Burris Signature DD rings are okay, they are just more money and I have never had a problem with Leupold rings marking a scope.

Very high re-coil: 6-screw SSK Industries base with 3- or 4-rings by SSK (3-rings for 30-06, 4-rings for 500 S&W)
High re-coil; 4-screw Warne base with 3-rings by Warne (45-70; 444)
O.K. re-coil; 4-screw Warne base with 2-rings by Warne (243)
Light re-coil; 4-screw Weaver base with 2-rings by Weaver (223)

My 7-08 is mounted with a Weaver base and Burris Signature Z-Rings.  Scope doesn't move.  If I were to remount it, I would most likely go with the Weaver Grand Slam base/ring combo (just cause I like the looks)

Straton Custom 6 hole steel mount and 3 Burris steel Zee Rings. Does the job for me on my 6.5X284Win. and I like the way it looks.

Also like this weaver base modified to 6 holes with 4 Leupold Verticas split rings.
