308 Survivor + boredom =
« on: April 15, 2008, 07:06:54 PM »
Well I was thinking of painting my Survivor but changed my mind. I came across some cammo elastic tape. This stuff is just like they use in the med field it is stretchy and only sticks to its self it is washable and reuseable so thought it couldnt hurt. Also it is grippy to the touch makes for a nicer feel to the hand. Now we just have to see if it fools the coyotes

I chose the desert because SoCal is dead grass for most of the year so it should do well.

Good idea, Slug.  Where'd you find it?  I've used it on a lot of things from my horses to myself, but I never saw it in camo.

The cheek piece is just foam tool box drawer liner stacked up to the thickness I wanted and held in place with electrical tape. It makes for a nice cusioned pad and it was laying around the garage after I lined my drawers.

I will try to get you a web sight when I get home tonight. The stuff isnt cheap @ $10.22 a 12' roll I used a whole roll on the rifle and a quarter on my binos. It comes in several patterns I will have to pick up some of the wood land for deer season.

Its a cheap NCStar 4X30 it was like 20 bucks off of Midway. So far it has stood up to 40 rounds and held its zero. For a cheap scope the optics are really clear.

I hear ya I am all about inexpensive. As I said the foam was just left overs that I was going to thow out. My wife always gets on me for being a packrat but every now and then I find a use for the stuff. ;D

Thank you for posting this!!! I was wanting to paint mine but was worried I would mess it up somehow. I think I am going to use the woodland break up . I hope you don't mind me borrowing your idea.
