I purchased this NWTF 12ga 3.5 inch on Auction Arms about a month ago. I purchased it thinking (Hoping) that it had a yellow lam stock set that needed refinishing.

So I started the refinish job on Tuesday of this week. I first removed the stock and forearm from the gun. I also took off the sling studs.

Then I sprayed on the stripper. I used the spray on kind that removes it in like 3 to 5 minutes.
I used a small brass bristled wire brush that looks like a toothbrush on the checkered areas.

Basically you just spray it on let it set for 3 minutes and lightly scrub it with the grain DO NOT GO against the grain.
Once the stain was dislodged a simple trip over to the garden hose washed it all off. I scrubbed it under the hose with the brush a time or two. Then I hung up the stock and forearm to dry. This is what they looked like when they were dry. Note: my excitement for yellow lams was over.

I then used 400 grit sand paper and sanded it (not checkered area) with the grain until it felt smooth. For the checkered areas I used another brass brush and some "0000 steel wool".
It had no dents so there was no need to use the steam iron on it.
I then began to spray it with some oil based Polyurethane I chose the
Minwax FastDrying Polyurethane, Spray semi Gloss

I sprayed it in hot 85-90 degree weather so it dried real fast. I put on about 3 coats in 4 hours. Then I let it dry up for two hours out in the sun.
I then lightly sanded it smooth with some 0000 steel wool.
I sprayed it two more times steel wooling it lightly between coats.
Here it is outside wet with spray.

Here is the finished stock set.
Before and After

The outside pictures really show off the true colors, there not yellow but they sure are purdy!
