This is my best deer ever. 12 points, 21" spread, 8" G2's with a rare split in both, perfect symmetrical rack, lots of mass. 150 lbs. field dressed. I hit him at about 55 yards, straight on top center of the neck while he had his head ducked. He folded on the spot. .308 Ruger Hawkeye, Leupold VX-II 4-12x40 scope, 165 grain Federal Fusion ammo. He had a big doe with him and his neck was swelled up big time. Hung out behind a tree for about two minutes while I was holding on him and trying to gain my composure. I'm glad he did now cause I got so excited I 'bout fell off my bucket when I first saw him. I kept the rack for a horn mount.
I am a sold-out Christian, not sold out to systematic religion, BTW, anyways........about twenty minutes before big boy showed up, I had asked the Lord for a buck and if He didn't mind, I'd like it to be nice one too. I believe He came through for me.

Do u know in Oklahoma it is illegal to feed deer through deer season i see corn on the ground where u shot him. good thing u didnt get caught that is against the law, u need to stop feeding them 10 days before season starts not through season, there are a lott of people that does this, feeds them through season and its Wrong. what deer wouldnt want to come to corn every day and feed off a feeder.but when u stop at 10 days tell season start Like u are requierd they quit comeing around as much

Ditto...........clarification...........where in the Oklahoma 2008-2009 Hunting Guide is this regulation stated? Which section, what page.

Its not now? it was a year ago or 2 was going by that it might not be nowdays as every thing changes here in the state,But I know it used to be

That's why you have to check your regs every year. Here in KY, years ago, you couldn't bait deer at all, but it was ok to bait turkeys. Now, you can bait deer all year long, yet you can't hunt turkeys in any area where there was bait or a feeder within the last 30 days of the season.

BTW, that's a heck a beautiful buck! I'm jealous!

I check my reg for what i need to know shuch as shooting times opening date and closeing date of season.i read that it was illegeal a year or 2 ago,i used to feed the deer corn up tell 10 days tell season ,but i didnt see any more than i did when i didnt feed them so i quit feeding them. around here they have so much for them to eat such as corn,milo,soybeans,wheat, alfalfa, i don think it matters if u do or not

That is for migratory birds only and is a Federal code. You will see the language in the published waterfowl regs.

FWIW, I don't see any ethical issues with baiting for any animal, be it bear, turkey, deer, etc.

There's no difference in baiting a site for deer VS hunting over a wheat, corn, or soybean field. You're still hunting over a man made food source.

Backstrap I have hunted Ok for over 25 years and I don't know it's ever been illegal to bait deer. I know for sure it has not been illegal to bait deer for well over 10 years.

That is really a nice "Okie buck", ya done real good.You might get a bigger one or that might be the biggest one you'll ever get ,one thing is certain you will always have that one for sure.
Memories of our hunts will always be with us. If you seen the post from gray fox and his deer , that is my son and his deer that he got.Not to bad for a 17 year old kid who called in to his work place so he could hunt that evening. Was glad it turned out okay for him to.

BAck to your buck. That is as nice an Okie Buck as I have ever seen. I missed one almost that big last season near Tishomingo but he wasn't near that symetrical.

Way to go Lik2hunt that is an awsome buck.I to like to say a prayer when I get in my stand(usually about an hour before light)and ask that He might bless me with a deer.Sometimes its a buck sometimes its a doe,they all taste great.

I've killed some nice deer but that one is a great buck. What part of Oklahoma did you get him in? I have seen some dark horns in eastern Oklahoma not too far from Arkansas.

Liketohunt, I ask the Lord for a big one too and he sent me a big 12pt also. Mine had 12 small gnarly points with buttonholes. Sorry don't have any pics. I would be emparrased to post them on the same page as yours anyway. I did, however, thank the lord for his great bounty. He has been so good to me!!
