Pictures worthy of a calendar - 2010
« on: December 31, 2008, 05:12:20 AM »
READ THESE RULES BEFORE POSTING

Let’s start early this year and start collecting pictures worthy of a calendar for the 2010 Calendar.

Start by reading the photo taking instructions at Tips for taking better pictures

There are some changes to the rules this year.

You may post only one picture per cannon and it must be your cannon.  Sponsors may submit a picture of a cannon they built.    If you later take a better picture and want to submit it you must first delete your original post and resubmit a new post. If you submit two pictures of the same cannon, both posts will be deleted.

Only one picture per post allowed.  This makes it easier for me to capture the pictures for the poll and match them up to the original post later. If you post more than one picture per post I delete your post.  You are free to repost one picture per post.

Every picture must have cannon as subject matter. People and Animals are allowed, but the cannon must be the subject matter.

You may have more than one cannon in the picture, but one of them must be your cannon. This calendar is of the member’s cannons and not of cannons.

Cannons can be static or in action.

Post picture and title only no narrative, no replies and no comments in this topic. Remember you have to post text as well as a link to your photo in the text box. Narrative will be edited; replies and comments will be deleted.

These must be new pictures and not entered in any previous cannon calendar post. Such pictures when spotted will be deleted.

Pictures must be posted in the usual format 576 pix wide at 72 ppi.  Save your picture on your computer at a minimum of 1078 x 768 pix or larger. Size---better full size as it comes out of the camera.  Then if your picture is selected I will have you send me your high resolution picture for posting in the calendar.

Photos must be posted from a photo hosting sight or webpage and not direct uploaded from your hard drive as a thumb nail.  Since we all can use the free hosting site at https://www.gboreloaded.com/mhp/ for posting and linking our pictures, there is no reason to direct upload.  It takes no longer to upload your picture via dial-up to a photo hosting site than it does to direct up load on dial-up.  This was a big problem this year setting up the poll and collecting pictures.  Direct uploaded posts will be deleted.  You are free to repost from a photo host site.

Any post not complying with these rules may be edited or deleted.

If you have what you think is a good picture but don't know how to edit it, PM me. Ask for help.  I will help you.

Try to work something in to show the scale of you cannon.  We use the Powder can a lot for perspective but we don't want this calendar to be an advertisement for GOEX.  We want to show off our guns. So unless you can work the powder can in as an unobtrusive part of the background leave it out.

September 15 I will lock the Pictures worthy of a calendar 2010 post. So get your pictures posted early.  I will open a post with a poll and we will select the pictures to be used on the Calendar.  Once the poll closes I will contact the poll winners and have them send me there full size picture for the calendar. Once I have the all the pictures I will forward them to Matt and he will make up the calendar and it become available on the GBO E-store.

The proceeds from the sales of the calendar go to support this board.  GBO provides a place to hang out; we need to help pay the bills, so buy a calendar.

This post is now open for posting.

Performing with the Colorado Symphony last year doing the 1812 Overture. That's me yanking the lanyard. I'm surprised I'm not falling over. I was watching the assistant conductor for my firing cue and she lost her place. She was running around out f the picture and I had to keep moving to follow her. Finally I just fired. I have an 1800 x 1200 x 300.

Seacoast Artillery Company cannons in Montana.
Smokin' my pipe on the mountings, sniffin' the mornin'-cool,
I walks in my old brown gaiters along o' my old brown mule,
With seventy gunners be'ind me, an' never a beggar forgets
It's only the pick of the Army that handles the dear little pets - 'Tss! 'Tss!
