The rook and rabbit shoot sounds like fun, just out of interest what are the varying ranges for this shoot? i have entertained the idea of having a rifle chambered in 22 Hornet but common sense has told me that i did not need one.

The varying ranges are just that. The targets are steel plate rook and rabbit targets. I am going to start walking down range and set targets down where ever I can get one set up. How far, who knows. I have no idea how far, but since I have to do the walking to set them up, Doubt if many/any get to 100 yards. Maybe on that far, but I doubt it

This is for single shot rifles made prior to 1940 for cartridges made prior to 1905, except .218 Bee, .22 Hornet, 25-20 and 32-20 allowed. No scopes, no bolt guns.

There may be a slight format change shooting day. 10 targets, maximum two shots at each target. I might even put a time limit on the match, maybe not.

If you are thinking about coming to compete, you might make other plans. This is not a competition. It is a gathering of people who shoot the old guns appropriate for these matches. But if you like to shoot the old English rook rifles or the Martini Henry or Snider rifle or you have an old double gun, you will enjoy this shoot.

I would like to come down and have a look but unfortunately im in another country. What’s the definition of a rook and rabbit rifle? I would like to see some photos if you can post them after the shoot.

Rook Rifles were small bore usually single shots used in mainly UK but also in europe for shooting small game mainly rooks which are slighlty smaller version of our NA Crows.

Im in the other country that still a part of the commonwealth, Australia. Thank you for your information.
i like the look of those old martini actions, but i think that mick’s guns are a little over priced. A .310 BSA in Australia range about $250 to $400 AUD but all the same they are nice rifles.

Yes Mick's prices are EU prices. A good .310 Cadet will gor for $300 to $400 USD here.

Here's the directions to the range.

First follow your map-GPS-instinct to Cut Bank MT.

From the EAST (I-15-Shelby) Go to the traffic light and turn right-north .

From the WEST go to the traffic light and turn left-north.

From the NORTH, if you see this, stop and turn around and go back North, you missed the first turn.

From the traffic light go north 2.3 miles to Lahr Road. Olson Road is on the left, west. Lahr Road is on the right east.

If you are coming from the North this is where you should have turned instead of going on into town. Lahr Road is on the left, east. Olson Road is on the right west.
