Part of me says the .30-30 is all I need but that 7X57 is such a sweet shootin round I think I'd jump at the chance to have one in a Handi.

I like the 7x57 but been thinking about getting a 280 of late... that would take care of 7mm's for me.
(Except if I could find a small bore topper with the profiled receiver/barrel breech suitable for rebore/re-rifle to 7-30 Waters.)

7x57 was what started me on my affair with the 7mms.  I would buy one as soon as I could find one.  I voted YES.  DP

I'll have to find another frame before I would want to send off for an accessory barrel.  If I get that frame I would be all over this in a heartbeat.   If there were to be some used ones floating around, I would be in hog heaven!

Yes, the 7mm-08 is more modern.  The 7x57 is a great classic that doesn't deserve to become obsolete, and a single-shot is the ideal platform for it.

YEP, LOVE A 7X57... AND A 6.5X55...
AND ALSO A .458 WIN MAG OR ONE OF THE OLD LOWER PRESSURE (SAY .450) NITRO EXPRESS CARTRIDGES ON A 10 GA FRAME WITH A CHEEKPIECE, EXPRESS SITES, ELEPHANT ON ONE RECEIVER SIDE AND A LION ON THE OTHER AND A SAFARI SLING! IT'D BE AN EASY DO AND IT WOULD SELL, SELL, SELL.

You know there is not much difference between the 7mm-08 and the 7x57 BUT! I would sure favor the later because I am an old geezer. Same for the 6.5x55.

I agree the rimmed version would be preferred in the single shot, however some having the 7x57 in a bolt would prefer the rimless.

My wife shoots one in a model 70 lite weight, and loves it. I reload so you can make the 7x57 perform. Have a 7-08 in a Handi but just can't equal the old 7x57. Zeak

I voted yes. And I would love to have one, it would be a great hunting barrel especially if offered with open sites and at least a 24" barrel.
Still I feel it's a dieing hope sence they already offer 2 excellent 7mm's in the 26" 280 and the shorter cousin 7mm-08 in 22"  :-\
Though a good excuss to offer a custom shop offering for those that are adament about such cartridges that want something a little different. Doesn't have to jack up the price too much, but just make a small run of a few different cals and cartridges. This is Remington for goodness sake!! How long do you think it would take out of their day to run off 200 barrels in a cal like this? Granted tooling and computer programing differences... still I believe Marlin (?) is pumping out most Handi barrels if I am correct  ???

Marlin has been making the barrels, but Ilion has a new hammer forged barrel making facility coming online, but I don't know yet if H&R barrels will be made there or not.

i voted no. i have a 7mm-08 and a 280 and a 7mm mag(not a handi) and i have no need for a 7x57 and even if i could only have one it would be the 7mm-08 not the 7x57 i just like it better and there is better componets out there for the 7mm-08 too
