Flex tech stocks???
« on: April 10, 2009, 05:17:17 PM »
Hi Guy's
I have a encore rifle with composite stock and fore arm, with a 45-70 barrel and being so light the recoil
is pretty stout. Not that I'am being a whuss!!! My question is anybody use the flex tech stock with big
calibers and does it help reduce the recoil? Wondering if getting one would be worth it or not?

Thanks,
jr 1968

Yes they are worth it!  I  used a thumbhole flextech on a 12ga slug barrel I had.  They do make a big diff!
They almost make the 12ga slug barrels Fun to shoot, untill you sit down to a bench.  It still hurts  ;D. You should see a diff with your 45-70.

I got a PAST shoulder pad last year and wish I had gotten one years ago. Makes shooting from a bench fun again ;) Makes my 7mm feel like a 270, and my muzzleloader feel like a 12 gauge with field loads. Best 30 bucks I ever spent!

I shoot Flex Tech on my 300 win mag would shoot without it! There is a big difference in felt recoil. That being said you could just buy a SIMS recoil pad put on your stock. I'm not sure how much the rubber inserts inside stock helps. However I do like the rubber on grip this is another plus to the flex tech.

I use my Prohunter with a 12ga shotgun barrel and shoot 3" Hevishot loads out of it. Just like shootin my 22 magnum. ;D

But seriously, well worth the money if your shootin any hard recoil caliber.

I have a Flextech Stock on my Encore 20 inch Bullberry Rifle Barrel Rechambered to S&W460mag but the ammo with the most felt recoil is Magtech 454 casull jacketed flat point it has more recoil that the Hornaday SW460mag ammo.

I am glad to hear positive feedback on the Flex Tech stocks-----I am buying one in the next week and am buying the energy burners to put in it-------They are supposed to decrease recoil even more than with the flex tech stock alone. I wonder if they work BUT for $7 I will take the chance.
Thanks for all the feedback
