 :D Enjoyed! :D
RIP John. While on vacation July 4th 2013 in northern Wisconsin, he was ATVing with family and pulled ahead of everyone and took off at break-neck speed without a helmet. He lost control.....hit a tree....and the tree won.  He died instantly.

Grr I hate this Windows Media Vist doesn't have codec for  ASF format and I can't see the video.

So here's some still's.

Then on the way home we saw this crossing the road on the Kevin Highway.

First one I have seen around here in about 10 years.

I went upstairs and looked at the video on the XP laptop.  I was there, and watching it on video is still exciting.

We did learn a few thing today.  Bowling balls go further down wind than up wind.

BIG CORRECTION

Ernies "Southpaw" loads were not grains as I previously reported but ounces.

You guys should have seen it.  Ernie used 1 oz. of Cannon grade sent the bowling ball all of 30 yards .  2 oz. sent  the BB about 140 yards.  1.75 oz.  brought it to 100 yards even.  3 oz grains sent the BB 312 yards.

My mistake.

Here's is a map showing our pond shots.

I started with 250 grains of Cannon and 120 grains of 2Fg.  Blue arrow.  The ball landed in tall grass at the far side of the pond.

Ernie's first shot was also long,  hitting out in the field beyond the pond.  Red arrow.

My second shot, was 250 cannon grade and is the green arrow.  The shoot made a good splash when it hit.

Ernies second shot is the yellow arrow  and his shot made a splash that made my splash irrelevant.   ;D.

DD, you're right about VISTA not having the codes. I watched it with Windows Movie Maker. Nice Splashdown.
I may not be completely sane, but at least I don't think I have the power to influence the weather.

Yeah, thanks for clarifying the splash down. Yesterday evening I kept replaying the first vid you posted with DD lighting the mortar, searching the pond trying to get a glimpse of the splash even though I could hear you, or someone else say, "well, it looks like we went right over the top."
Anyhow, I did see the kerplunk in the second vid, and I'll have to agree with whomever it was that's heard to say, "that was pretty cool."

You guys should have seen it.  100 grains of Cannon grade sent the bowling ball all of 30 yards .  200 grains sent  the BB about 140 yards.  175 grains brought it to 100 yards even.  300 grains sent the BB 312 yards.

Some people just seem to have too much time on their hands and money in their pockets to be buying black powder.
Keep it up, guys!!!!!!!
