My Lyman kit gun
« on: July 10, 2009, 01:57:33 PM »
Here's my newly built .54 cal GPR percussion. I shot this prairie dog at approx. 30yds with .530 round ball, .14 patch & 80grs Goex FFG.

Looks good Huntsman, but if you're going to be shooting a lot of prairie dogs you might want to consider a .58 instead of a .54.    :D   Nice shooting.

I like the color on that stock.

Hey Thanks, I was lucky to get a .54 around these parts lol.
The metal is "Plum Brown". And wood is walnut stain with handrubbed conditioner & wax.
Everything I used was off the shelf "Birchwood Casey" products at our nearest Bass Pro Shops.
This was my 1st build  ;)

LOL, unfortunately up here in Canada we cannot wear or carry pistols (unless air pistol) whilst hunting. I would love however to have a nice .50 or .54 cal pistola tucked in my left hip under my belt for backup. I do though have a nice tomahawk that rides in my right hip btw(you just can't see it in the pic).

-I was too, however nowhere near "the mountains that are the marrow of the world",  maybe a 4hr drive to the rockies lol.
heck, i'd be there in a second were i a bit closer ;)

Midsouth sells it for $351, I think I've seen it for a bit less, but don't remember where.  ::)
