That's my county, makes you want to up gun a little when going out, 22 just isn't enough any more.
Friend over by I.C.  was losing lambs, had a guy come in to trap the coyote , ended up with about 20  within a few miles.
There is stuff out there that works the night shift.
Best wishes,  :)

I am bordering you guy's to the east and south and my knee's are still shaking after reading that  ;D ;)

Actually, my little 3-7/8" birds head Vaquero in the .45 Colt tucked away cross-draw style in an Uncle Mikes #2 holster has replaced my old H&R .22 for about three years running now for those trips when I am either scouting or going out to setup the blind. She hits hard & accurate with 60yd shots being very doable on med size game...this is (comfort food) for sure.

I'm located in Marion County, SW of Des Moines. I saw a lion here 4 years ago, 4 miles west of Knoxville. Local DNR officer checked the tracks and could not confirm the sighting (said the tracks in the dust beside the road were too "smudged" ::)

BTW, that lion was within 20 yards of a favorite camp site of mine.  :o I am ALWAYS armed when I'm in rural areas nowdays! :D

Found this pic of the Meringo Lion online

Sangamon Co to be exact. We do get some reliable sighting reports but they are still few and far in between.

That mind picture will make you think when you go out back to check the "chickens" late at night!

When I "hear" the coyotes at night I feel better when out back!
