Thats mighty accurate for a slug gun. It's mighty accurate for anything pushing an over 400gr. slug. Might have to get me one of dem'

My cut down 20ga. Pardner with 4x scope will shoot a group like that.....at 30 yds.

I ran those figures over the "free on line" foot pounds calculator;

Came out to... 410 grains @ 2000 fps = 3,642.50 ft lbs. That should slow the arguments of the guys who say a 20 ga isn't quite good enough for deer & bear..

My hunting partner has the Ultra Slug Hunter in 12 gauge. He shoots Federal 3" with barnes expanders. His range accuracy @ 100 yds matches this 20 gauge Ultra (At $20 per 5 rounds the federal better be accurate).

I think the hasting 3 1/2 inches is available only as a complete gun package not a stand alone barrel. The asking price on gunbroker for a new 20 ga 3 1/2" was in the mid $300 range.

1 1/2 - 2 yrs ago when the came out you could send your bbl to Hasting and they had a gunsmith contracted to do thier rebore for them .Price IIRC was 150-$200. Not sure if they ever cought on though lots of guys had intrest when they were first talking about them but just trying to tame recoil on the ultra lite 20ga was bad enough for me cooler heads prevailed and the gimic thing wore off. Just can't imagine the recoil of the 3 1/2"20 in a Pardner bbl... Oh wait yes I can I've got some 2 oz 3 1/2" 12ga Turkey loads I've shot out of my 835 Ulti Mag

Even though rifles for big game was made legal in my home county..and all the southern tier (of NY) counties, many around here still use their slug guns. Most deer I have shot are under 100 yards, well within range of a decent smoothbore slug gun. Also, the 20 ga is fully adequate; my Dad got deer rergularly back in the 30s, 40s & 50s and 20 ga was all he ever used. Unfortunately, my hurting right shoulder won't allow me a slug gun any more.
My 30/30 is even a bit painful..so I'm going to try to develop a .223 round for big game. ...Really, I suppose I should get my shoulder fixed instead !
