Author Topic: HR doesn't sell WGRS? They do (Read 1576 times)

I bought a new 45/70 and wanted to put a WGRS sight on it. I called HR to inquire about the price and was told they no longer carry them. Doesn't the 45/70 Buffalo Classic come standard with that sight? Is this a case of talking to the wrong person? Based on searching the forum HR was much cheaper than any other source. Should I order from else where or call back and get someone else on the phone at HR?

That's the standard 45-70 BC sight, they may be thinking of the Williams FP and FP-TK, ask for part #R03019 or FR03019 rear receiver sight (Classic), one of those should work, they have added the F prefix to some other part numbers listed in the 2008 parts list, the other option is to just order the rear sight for the BC by model number which is CR-1871, good luck, please let us know the outcome, part number and cost so I can update the FAQs.

I think that's it, one of the screw mounted sights on the parts list is .632" tall, part # R03872, I used the Williams shotgun shorty which is .375" with a .250" Firesight which is a total of .625", this combo worked fine on one of my 45-70 Handis, it also worked on the 44mag.

Wow, only $5.10 shipped, that's the first time anyone has reported shipping that was less than $10, glad to see that small parts are shipped for a reasonable cost and that you got a positive service response from them, now if they just ship the right parts.

The small parts order that I got came First Class USPS in a padded envelope, they charged $10.50 for a little envelope of springs and cams!

I bought a 45-70, after I talked with a rep. He said I would get sights. When the gun came back no sights. I called a second time talked with a different rep. He said I would have to buy my own. I did get some sights and put them on. Around 6 weeks or so later HR sent me a set of sights. So yes & no if you get sights.

The sights came today in a padded envelope via USPS first class mail. The packing slip says R03872 front sight .562. I am assuming that means the sight is .562" tall.

Did ya measure it? Parts list says R03872 is .632", there is no .562" tall sight, maybe that's just the blade height above the ramp.

I didn't measure it yet. I bought a new computer Sunday and was loading programs and such all evening. I will measure it tonight and report back.

It measures about .525" above the barrel.

It looks like it is not the sight I need.

I just got off the phone with H&R customer service. They are sending me the proper front sight and told me to mail the other one back. Pretty good customer service, as long as they don't charge my credit card for the replacement front sight.

Tim I asked about the different front sight sizes. I didn't think to get part #'s.

I called customer service yesterday, they didn't even have it on record that I requested a replacement sight. The lady I spoke with the first time did seem a little clueless.

They seemed puzzled as to why part# R03872 is coming up Front Sight .562, she said it is supposed to be Front Sight .634. I told her I mailed the front sight to Ilion, NY as instructed. She didn't know why I was told to sent it to New York and not North Carolina? I was informed that I would be contacted by 4:00pm today with an answer. I received a phone call saying that two sights were being shipped a .578 and a .650 that fits nothing that Remington currently produces, so it may not fit.

Wait here comes the best part.

UPS delivered an envelope today with one .634 Front Sight! It included a copy of the original invoice and note that I mailed via USPS to Ilion.

It cost me $.88 in postage to return the sight to Ilion-I wonder what UPS charged them to bring it back to me!
