Thanks Andy, and the case hardened Topper receivers don't hurt the looks either. That top stock is one you modified for me. It is the preferred one for my Topper 158 30/30 who now has a VP little brother barrel.
Just gotta find a suitable shotgun barrel, to make a nice combo set.
I did shoot the VP with the higher front sight when I first got it, and it was fine. The one with the low front sight I just tried as-is and got the high POI. It is going to get a scope as well, so it's not a big deal. Nonetheless, I think I
will put the higher sight on and try it anyway.
And one more little puzzle: I have another VP barrel that I recently got from a member here, and it came with no sights. He's got the sight on order, and we're waiting. However, there are two holes drilled and tapped for a front sight
which puzzles me as the other two barrels have a single screw (hex head) holding the front sight on. I found a sight in my miscellaneous box that fits the two holes and put it on... it is a ramp with a dovetail for a front sight... kinda like the pics below (but just a black bead, not the gold), and to make it even more odd, I put a Lyman folding sight in the dovetail for the rear sight. (I'll post a pic of this one later) I haven't fired it with irons yet, but it does just fine scoped. I'm guessing the POI will be even higher with the ramped front sight, and rear Lyman folding, as I have it now. Hopefully the proper sight will show up and all will be well...
