Pictures of my new rossi wizard .223
« on: July 27, 2010, 04:19:39 PM »
seems  as i am one of the first people to have gotten one of these  so i thought i would post some photos sorry they suck im bad a taking pictures . I have not had a chance to fire it yet im waiting for the scope i ordered for it to show up in the mail but i have handled it alot and sofar i like it alot. The stock even tho its a little funny looking is very compfortable to me it comes up perfect iron sights right on the money the stock wood itself would be absolutly beatiful wood if it had a better quality finish on it especially the forend .The forend fits extremely tightly to the barrel the barrel itself measures 0.693 inchs at the muzzle and has a target crown the barrel finish is good dark blue the receiver bluing has a slightly reddish tint to it and does not qute match the color of the barrel but you cant tell the difference from more than a foot away.I measured the twist with a cleaning rod and it came out to roughly  1in13 rate of twist (i think it may have been metric measurement but 1in13 was closer than 1in12 )now i am new to the 223 caliber so what bullet weight would be good for a 1in13 twist?

If anyone has a any questions about it feel free to ask

Thanks for the post 8)  Been considering trying one of these, but waiting for them to release the .45-70 barrel, although since it's still not out this year, I have been looking at the .30-06 version and could make the .45-70 a future add-on.  ;)  Give us a range report and trigger feel once you shoot it.  8)

From dry firing the trigger is a little bit lighter pull than my pre accutrigger savage 110 and a little bit more heavy than my sons Henry lever action 22lr . i dont have a pull gauge to get exact pull weight  however  only a tiny bit of over travel it is actually a lot better trigger than i had anticipated on such a chap rifle . I got it from budsgunshop if anyone was wondering  a 45-70 barrel is at the top of my list of barrels to get for it when ever they get in stock

I'd have spent an extra buck or two and got a good old, Made In USA Handi rifle.  That thing looks like a TC clone.  I'm not meaning to be rude, but every time we buy something like this we're exporting jobs.......Yours could be next.

Hi there, Ive been searching for ages about a range report about these wizard rifles. Where I live down in New Zealand (island west of Austrailia )the local gundealers down here have been advisting there arrival for ages but alas we just keep waiting!!!  I would be very keen on any information about them as the thomspon encores are very expensive being  $1400.00 - $2000.00 nz dollars . Rossi wizards are being price pointed at $550.00 nz dollars which I gotta say thats a winner and extra barrels at $250.00 nz dollars yeeehaa !!!! Any up date would be greatly apperciated .
 Cheer

I think the Wizard is more pricy than the H&R....
