Price check on a couple of 44 mag. handis?
« on: November 28, 2010, 10:15:54 AM »
Boys, found a couple of new handis that have me intrigued.  One is the new SB-1, but with a mossy oak[?] synthetic stock and a blued 22" barrel.  The other is a wood stock, withe the short[18 3/4"?] barrel.  Think it is a trapper or one of the lipsey/talo exclusives, from a yr. or two ago.

One rifle is 5 min. drive, and the other is a 2 1/2 hr. drive.  Both are priced the same...$300.  I'm thinking firearm season here in Indiana, ends today at sunset.  Might be able to get one of them cheaper.  So, is the price too high for these models?  Thanks.

The Trapper is an SB1 also, has sights and is drilled and tapped for a scope rail, so it would be my first choice specially if you like sights, it's quite a bit higher than they sold for before,  Bud's has the black stocked version for $227 shipped.

Just a heads up, you can get the 45 Colt Carbine for $229+ $17 shipping from CDNN, SB2 frame, checkered walnut stocks, sights, drilled and tapped, good for Ruger/TC loads or  rechambering to Casull (or 460S&W if they opt for the 1.8" case length).  ;)

Thanks Tim!  I'll check the CDNN sight.  May try to dicker on the trapper.  What do you think a fair price would be?  Also, any idea on velocity loss on the short barrel?

$240-250 would be a reasonable price to shoot for if it's new, TGS has the Trapper for $245 new, + shipping of course.

Maybe one of the fellas that has the Trapper can share MV info, Buffalo Bore lists 1897fps from an 18" barrel for their 240gr +P ammo, 1800fps for their 270gr, FWIW.

The Colt Carbine is in their current catalog on page 44, they don't list firearms on their website, last time I checked they had 300 in stock, but that's been a couple months at least.  http://www.cdnninvestments.com/
