Send it in with a credit card number or check for the expected amount of $96 on the barrel, they'll let you know if the need more money on the check, H&R CS in Madison doesn't have a clue about those barrels for some reason, even the employees in Ilion where the barrels are fitted don't know why either, but the info I've supplied is accurate. They had 37 of the 18¾" 45-70 trapper barrels in stock on 12/14/2010, no guarantee how many they have now, so if you want one, better go for it now, or you certainly won't get one. Two members have order barrels that don't exist according to Madison, one a Huntsman, the other a 35 Rem, both have received their barrels.

Thanks Tim!  If you say it, I beleive it!  I didn't get a chance to get this boxed up today, but I will definately do it in the next day or two.

I've been looking for an excuse to get a 45-70, and I just couldn't resist that short barrel with factory iron sights.  I don't know a thing about this round, but I'll learn.  I think this is gonna be my early season (leaves still on the trees) deer gun.

Put me in the line of people who wonder what's going on with CS!
I called today, got a nice lady, Anne, and when I asked about the 357,44m, and 45-70 18 3/4" barrels, she said "Lots of people have been calling with these strange numbers. I don't know where they get them. We don't have any barrels less than 22"."
Wow! ET needs to call home!
So I guess we just send in our guns, less barrels, and hope for the best? Crazy, but it's a crazy world we live in these days!
Thanks for all the info, Quick. Where would we all be without you?
Thanks, Robert.

They also have the .50 Huntsman barrels, but they're waiting until they get a good supply of them made before they update the acc barrel page, probably the same thing for the other barrels, and also not telling CS what's going on until they have lots of them too.

Well the 308 (regular barrel) with wood stocks arrived today at Wal-Mart.  I quickly got it home and put the stocks on my old Dick's Sporting goods 308 receiver that I parted out.  It's packed up and I have UPS scheduled to pick it up tomorrow.

Keep your fingers crossed for me on the 45-70 trapper!

thanks,
-Kyle

I just needed to confirm before I ship out my frame, I know that the info states that the barrels come with sights but are they also drilled and tapped for scope mounting?

never mind...a little more looking and I got the answer! :-[

the huntsman barrels part# (F50M), come with sights & drilled & tapped for scope base, part# FR01331. the scope base does not come with the barrel.

I just checked the Remington link that they emailed me when I sent in the receiver.  It now says:

"Repairman is in the process of servicing the firearm/part. "

This has changed from "we received" the firearm that was shipped.  Hopefully this means they are fitting my 45-70 Talo barrel.

This is for kng.  Your next email from them will tell you they shipped you item to you.  It will not say what the item is.  But it will show the weight of the item and you will be able to tell from that what is in the package.  That was the only way that I knew that my 2 extra barrels were on the way.

"This is to provide notification that your firearm/part has been shipped."

Woo-hoo!  Ya'll made me feel inadequate for not having a 45-70, ha-ha!  8)  Got that fixed now.  Now I just hope it's indeed a Talo, and not the 22" barrel.

Thanks,
-Kyle
