Legistics are too high, besides, folks cheat with a self policed postal shoot. Takes all the fun out of it.
Spend enough time on a gun range and you'll know how ya shoot compared to others. This is NOT horn blowing, but I shoot alot, and in compition. I can say that in my own experiance I shoot better than 90% of the common folks that go to a gun range and shoot every once in awhile. Improvement is made by the amount of time a guy has on the trigger.(period) Guns can only be made so accurate, and most guns shoot better than most people.
I live in a community of about 100,000. Lets say 20% of the people own guns, now let's say 10% of those shoot alot. That's 2000 folks. Now I shoot better than 90%, that still leaves 200 people that shoot better than me, in THIS town.
Now I know 5 guys that load and have a personal "range" right out their back door, THOSE guys can be spot on scary accurate!!
I can hit a dime size spot at 200, off a bench, with my 223 with at least 1 or 2 of a 5 shot string, the other 3 will scare the heck out of that spot.
What kinda fun would there be in a 50-100 yard scoped gun postal shoot?
Sorry, I'd save my stamp, nuthin too prove,  ???  ::)

I shoot bench rest gun's. My homemade rig ,A single shot 98 Mauser action(Interarms),  has a old 36 power Leupold on it and you can count the legs on a house fly at a hunert yards. So a few of us may be Shooters out here. I feel that I can spend 44 cent on some ;D fun. That is the only reason I would do a shoot. That is my thought on the subject.   26-t

No plans for a postal match, but that can always change, all we need is someone to collect the scores, rules are in the FAQs, I think the last one we had was 2005, or 2006.

Ok guys , if you want to have a match I'll do the score-ing  :D

With it being winter lets put a final date of April 15th 2011 , that should give even the guys that are knee deep in snow till the end of March time to shoot .

When you get ready to send the cards just drop me a PM and I'll shoot you my info .

This is for NEF and H&R firearms only. No restrictions on optics, rechamberings, loads, etc. This is just for fun!

Here are the official rules for all categories:

Centerfire Rifle:
5 shot group
3X5 card for target
Range- 100 yards
Stable rest allowed
Optics allowed

Note - If enough centerfire entries are recieved multiple classifications of the centerfire rifle entries may be formed. example .22 - .25, .27 - .35, big bore, bpcs, etc.

Centerfire Pistol Calibers
5 shot group
3X5 card for target
Range 50 yards
Stable rest allowed
Optics allowed

Rimfire rifle:
5 shot group
3X5 card for Target
Range 50 yards
Stable rest allowed
Optics allowed

Shotgun - slug guns:
3 shot group
3X5 card for target
Range 50 yards
Stable rest allowed
Optics allowed

Muzzleloader:
5 shot group
3X5 card for target
Range 50 yards
STable rest allowed
Optics allowed

Information to include on all cards:

Nickname on the board (required)
Real name (optional)
Date target was shot (required)
Weather conditions (required)
Firearm type; Centerfire, rimfire, shotgun, muzzleloader(required)
Firearm model; ie Ultra Varmit, Ultra Hunter, Handi Rifle etc (required)
Caliber (required)
Load Data (optional)
Optics (optional)
Modifications done to firearm (optional)

45-70's can be shot at either fifty or 100 yards , ( please list yardage ) . Also I'll add a slot for the 45lc / 410 barrels to be shot @ 50 yards  I hope to get more people shooting this caliber in this contest.

Those rules are vage,
Can there be a center mark for aiming? Or any mark for aiming?
What counts as "score"? Group size? Distance from center?

Total group size , and yes you can have an aiming mark , group does not have to be centered either .

No problem T , its just for fun and bragg-in rights anyhow  ;D , that and with the number of Handi's that I have , it would take a Large Flat Rate box for me to ship all the cards to someone else .  :D :D :D

Stimpy, you da man!

Only one class I don't really see.  I don't want to see all different special classes to come about from this request but I was wondering,... since so many have tried accurizing the 45/410 lets add one extra class.  Might help some of those trying it.  Maybe have two entries 25 yard bead sight and 50 yard irons or Scopes.   And for real bragging rights....5 hits on a 3x5 card at 100 yards.  ;)

Stimpy,

Thanks for bumping this thread, i missed it in December.  Now I have me a good reason for going to the range and shooting in the snow.  Wife think's I'm nuts, especially now that I got her to stand in the snow and shoot the other day.

ohh  looks interesting,  be a first for me.  So my question is the target we are shooting at is a 3x5 card correct? does it acutally have to have a stamp on the we are shooting at?  Or can we just put a small dot on the target and shoot it?  Also after one has done there shooting what do we do with the card?  also can we have multiple entries with say different ammo, or is it best one goes? I'm sure I'll probably figure something else to ask.  I'm really looking forward to this.

Thank You
Levi
