Hand Gonne Contest - 2011 - Micro Tannenberg
« on: March 13, 2011, 07:36:21 PM »
This was designed for the 2nd Nano-Cannon Arms Race of early last year but has not reached the top of my queue yet.  It was supposed to be made with nothing more complicated than an electric drill used as a basic lathe for drilling the bore and the tiller socket.  The tube is made of several octagons which were intended to be created by filing, not milling.  Here is the drawing (click the image for a full size drawing):

If someone would like a drawing for a full size Tannenberg, ask.  It's already around here someplace but I can repost if someone has the energy to make one with a file.  This thread is the original nano-cannon thread.

I was thinking about doing a Tannenberg, since I've always wanted one (years ago, I even had Kap Pullen make me one, but he was unable to part with it after he was done).  I'll have to think of some special twist.

I added the dimension across the flats of the largest octagon to my drawing above.

Now the original was a bronze forging; that would be a challenge.
