Finished the little family
« on: May 27, 2011, 09:51:17 AM »
Well, I finally finished the series of kits. From left to right is a .34 cal model of a 24lber from the USS Constitution, its big brother a .56 of the same design, a 1" model of 10" mortars used at Yorktown, and the last one (also the last finished) is a .34 Dahlgren in a Marsilly carriage. All of them are brass and walnut.

Thanks for the kind words guys, hopefully at some point I'll have the tools to build atleast my own carriage. But until then, these kits give me something to work on in my spare time and are a lot of fun to build and enjoy after they are done. Not just shooting, but to look at, I love the looks of these old guns.

Gary, all the kits came from veteranarms.com, they sell those and some lower cost equipment for reenactors. Finished models are sold at bestmodelcannons.com All are made from solid brass and American walnut. The three smaller ones are just over $100 each for the kit.
