A Dynamic Duo
« on: August 06, 2011, 11:12:59 AM »
I am one step closer to completing my Dynamic Duo. At least now they can be shot! Pictured you will find a SB2 receiver with a shortened hammer and custom extension. The barrels are a 45-70 BC barrel that's now 28" long and a standard 30-30 barrel. Both of them and the receiver have been Duracoated in H&K Matte Black. I will have two different blonde forends glass and pillar bedded, the scope bases and barrels will be modified for 8-40 screws and both barrels will get a new crown.

Thanks, Dinny

Dinny,

Looking mighty fine!  I am going to guess that you didn't have Manny&Red's Profino Duracoat do the coating work this time. ;D

Thanks guys! These were the last of anything coated by my previous coater. I will likely coat everything in the future. ;)

I'm looking at adding a .222 Rem barrel and acquiring another blonde forend, then it will be the Terrific Trio. ;D  That should cover all my bases.

Thanks, Dinny

That was the last one done by Manny&Red, no more, forever. Can you post a pic of the Hammerhead?

Thanks, Dinny

What's everyone's thoughts on me applying a high-gloss clearcoat to the metal finish and the wood? Would it add class or would it take away from the functionality as a hunting rifle?

Thanks, Dinny

Nice setup Dinny... the blonde woodwork looks great. I'm sure after Dave is done with them they will shoot as good as they look. What are you planning on for optics?

Dinny,

I will post a pic of the H-Heads as soon as I remember to take one.  Hope to have a range report on them by middle of next week.

I wouldn't do it if it were me. If you wanted to gloss the stocks, I would lightly sand them and then clear them. They have no "stain" finish do they, just some sort of clear?

Spanky,
A Redfield Revolution on the 30-30 and a Burris with the Ballistiplex on the 45-70. The Ballistiplex reticle gives accurate aiming points for trapdoor plinking loads and full-power mule kickers.

BB,
I'll keep a watchful eye out for that post and range report.

Dave,
You are correct, there's no stain, just a clear finish. More than likely I will just add some stock sheen or wax to the stock for a gloss finish.

Tim,
  Thank you.

Thanks, Dinny
