California Bans Open Carry of Handguns
« on: October 10, 2011, 03:46:56 PM »
AB144 by state Assemblyman Anthony Portantino, D-Pasadena, makes it a misdemeanor to carry an exposed and unloaded gun in public or in vehicles, with violators facing up to a year in prison or a potential fine of $1,000 when the law takes effect on Jan 1.
The bill;

Near as I can tell from this, You could get busted just for being in the process of taking your gun to the range or in route to go hunting!

Seems silly to me.  Were they ever allowed to open carry?

I never understood the need to open carry. You weren't allowed to have it loaded. Commiefornia will soon ban most firearms. Their ban on a multitude of handguns makes absolutely no sense except for the libs who run the state.

Does this effectively ban handgun hunting also?

Next time I get a chance around that phoney, gonna ask him about when he used to fly into our local airport(very small one) and him and linda ronstat used to drive to his property in NorthSan Juan where all the pot farms were and spend the weekends their. They stopped in the local bar/dinner house where I used to tend bar and wanted a table right now. Told them they would have to wait behind those who were already waiting. linda asked if I knew who they were, my reply was they were the ones at the end of the waiting list and I was the one in charge of seating. She informed me they were leaving, I did mention that McDonalds was open.

 Before the new law you could open carry an unloaded handgun (even if you had loaded mags on you). There are a few vocal pro-gun groups who strap on unloaded guns and meet in public places, ride their motorcycles, etc. This law is designed to squash that practice.

This is law is one which Law Enforcement loves; makes their job easier. Anyone with a firearms, is a criminal. Easy.

Guns, bad people. No guns, maybe not bed people. Discernment is not one of Officer Friendly's strong points.

Looks to me that if the extreme interpretation were taken it would be illegal to own guns because it would be illegal to transport them.
