Rem Buck hammer's
« on: December 25, 2011, 10:08:31 AM »
I heard from my gun smith that Rem discontinued the Buck Hammer line. Anyone know if it's true ? I use them in my Moss 500 20ga and they have shot the best. I hope it's not true.

Remington still list them on their web site. But I'm going to stop by the gun shop today and buy 3 or 4 more boxes, that should last till I die since I only need one per year.

Per the web site
A close examination of the big game record books quickly reveals one strikingly consistent fact; the overwhelming majority of trophy book whitetails are found in slug-only states. Why stake your hunt on inferior shotgun slugs? When the buck of a lifetime steps out at 150 yards, go ahead and squeeze the trigger!
When it comes to delivering devastating knockdown power and superior accuracy, no other lead slug offers a more lethal combination than the Remington BuckHammer. Specifically designed for rifled barrels and rifled choke tubes, these high-performance slugs are capable of producing 3-inch or better groups at 100-yards with nearly 100% weight retention and controlled expansion to nearly one-inch in diameter.
Unlike traditional sabot slugs, the BuckHammer’s unique attached stabilizer allows for a full bore diameter lead slug that delivers devastating terminal performance with unsurpassed accuracy. Now available in 2 3/4-inch and 3-inch magnum loads in both 12- and 20-gauge the awe-inspiring BuckHammer is the hardest hitting, most accurate, highest energy family of lead slugs available.

Does anyone know the reason why Rem has discontinued them??  They were by far the best deal going for a decent slug to use in rifled barrels.  Half the price of Lightfields (at least in the stores around here).
Maybe I just answered my own question.

This was in another thread. I talked to Sandra at CS and she stated because of budget cuts the Buck Hammer line was being shut down. Shooters supply has them for about the same as midway. They shoot great in my kids 20ga USH. I bought him enough to hopefully last him his life time.

I went to Williams gun sight davison Michigan yesterday and bought a few more boxes of the 20ga. 2 3/4.  They had a bunch of them stacked on the shelf including the 3 inch ones. A year ago I had them on my Christmas list, brother in law deals with them and stated they were out then.
$7.95 plus tax but no shipping cost.
I didn't ask them about a discontinue as they were jam packed. The parking lot was so full of cars and trucks the wife said they must be holding a CCW class but that isn't till the 17th of Jan.

More likly Lookie lous. Drop the wife off at the Mejiers store just a bit up the road and go to Williams to see what you would like to buy if you ever get a decent job that paid real money. Not many at the check out counter, most at the used gun rack.

If it is true, it is a shame...I was going to try these out seeing as my Lightfield Hybred EXP's have jumped up in price in recent years...Luckily, I have about 4 or 5 more boxes of EXP's.  I only burn a couple a season between checking zero and hunting deer.
