Leaving On A Jet Plane.....
« on: April 27, 2012, 05:03:34 PM »
.....don't know when I'll be back again!

This is my last weekend home with my family before I depart for A-Stan. I'll drop a line or two here and there. Mostly will depend on time and comms. This is gonna be the hardest of my three deployments! I have a baby boy at home who's 10 days old tomorrow and a 2 y/o daughter. My daughter understands that I'm going far away to beat-up the bad guys. I just don't think she realizes how long I will be gone. The wife is packing things up in preparation for the long haul back to IL from OK. Her parents will be escorting her back so she has some help before and during the transition.
I prefer peace, but if there must be trouble, let it be in my day so my kids may live in peace. This has been my standing motto for many years, even before I had children. ;) I'd rather go back 10 more times than have to send another cherry private straight outta high school. Hopefully we're done soon....

Thanks, Dinny

Dinny, want to see you when you get back.  Remember Alaska.  There is a Grizzly just waiting for you and your Handi.  Rog, the old guy with the white beard.

What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

Rog,
Alaska is still fresh in my mind from a year ago. Since USARAK only permits stays of up to 6 years, I may have to settle on a visit or two until I get a few more years behind me. I have a strong feeling that I will want to retire there. Don't see no point in moving twice. ;)

Thanks, Dinny
