Double D -- I finally painted a carriage!!
« on: May 08, 2013, 05:24:18 AM »
Here is a naval carriage for a 36" long wooden barrel. The barrel was was painted to look like a patina bronze finish.
This is one of the few carriages I have painted. Actually, my lovely assistant did the paintwork. I used some old cracked and beat up fir that I had laying around. I was trying to make it look old and well used.

I have to admit I like the look.
I will have this on my website as soon as I can at

Wow!
My lovely assistant got a kewpie Doll.  Of course it has to go to her.  She did all the paint work on both the barrel and the carriage.  Without that, it's just another ho-hum carriage.
It's her first! ;D

I can not come up with words that even come close to describing how impressed I am!
I may not be completely sane, but at least I don't think I have the power to influence the weather.

Looks like it came from the back lot of universal studio and if I had a castle I would want one for each corner. The paint job looks to have been done by one of them artist who work for Spielberg. That has wealthy man cave written all over it!

It's about time that you slapped some colored skin on one of your rigs. I personally always go opaque on carriage coverings in an attempt to achieve the utmost realism attainable.  ??? :o :P
RIP John. While on vacation July 4th 2013 in northern Wisconsin, he was ATVing with family and pulled ahead of everyone and took off at break-neck speed without a helmet. He lost control.....hit a tree....and the tree won.  He died instantly.

The one thing that you can almost always rely on research leading to, is more research.
