Smokin 54,
I shoot 38 special wadcutters in my 357 Custom shop carbine barrel all the time!! I bought it to use for deer hunting with 180 grain LBT's in a max case, but I also use it for indoor 25 yard shooting with the basic 148 grain wadcutter and 3.1 grains of WW231. It shoots about 2.5 inch groups at 100 with the Max load and shoots about 1.5 inch groups at 25 yards with the 38s. The only issue is the scope, the 38s and 357s don't hit nowhere near each another, I over came this by using Weaver mount and rings and have a 3x9 for hunting and a 1.5x4 for plinking with the specials. This way I don't have to resight in, only change the scope out.
I've heard what Gregory is talking about, but they said the same thing about shooting 38s in 357 revolvers years ago about the ring of build up, but if you clean the gun properly, you'll never have a problem. I haven't shot a deer with it yet, but I did kill a possum in the yard with a special load....silent but deadly!
my opinion only,
Graycg
