Buffalo ejector change?
« on: January 03, 2006, 07:18:55 PM »
I read on a thread that the factory is going to start making the classic without the autoeject. Is the true? Does anyone have any dates?

Welcome aboard!! :D  All NEF/H&R rifles will have a mechanical extractor as soon as they run out of the ejector underlugs. Most of the new rifles are coming with extractors now.

If you currently have an ejector and want an extractor it's a simple fix, done in less than 15 minutes. Regretably you cannot go from extractor to ejector  :( . Check the FAQ or ask if you need the info....<><....

if you want an extractor, just fold up a note card about 6 layers deep by 1/8" wide and place it between the roll pin in the hole on the side of the mounting lug and the top of the hole.  It'll hold the ejector sear from engaging and will let it extract.  When you wanna go back to ejector, take paper out.

I was waiting for Fred to comment on it, need to know if it's gonna cause any damage. I might have ta try it to see how it works first before including it in the FAQ. I'd hate to have it break ejectors or somesuch.

Lost????? Now how in the world would that happen????

I don.t see any mechanical problems with that. Except you have to remove the forearm every time you change. That by itself I don't like.

Besides I am happy with the ejector and my manual notch extractor if a case gets stuck. I would not want an extractor. All my double shotguns have automatic ejectors, don't know why I would want an extractor besides they are sign of a cheap gun. Ouch

In my experience only worn and stretched brass seams to stick in a polished chamber and of course too hot a load. So at the range and shooting gophers I don't worry about a stuck case.

When I go hunting I use new brass and that wont stick. If I don't need a second shot my hand catches the empty. Sofar I have not needed a second shot. You all know the Handi is a one shot shooter ,ha :o
