Sounds like a winner, Bernie. How far will that ladder sight allow you to shoot? Do you have any pics of your rig with it mounted? Is that the one that cost you and arm and a Leg for shipping?

busta that was the front inserts that cost $23 shipping the smithe sight shipping cost $6.20 alot of guys say $140 is to much to pay for a sight but as you can see in the picks it is a qualty sight and you get wot you pay for i am very pleased with it. i think you can probebley get 1000 yards maybe a liittle more.

good to see ya back tim i missed ya it was dead on at 200 meters with my smokles loads and about 2 inches low with the black powder loads the front sight is the same one you have the .404. but for any one that reads this i was very lucky that my loads worked out to suit both sights and the yardige marks on the smith sight.the set up would be beter with a .494 front sight if you wont to use hoter loads than i do.

The problem I have is I wouldn't be able to use the buckhorn position, it's way too close to my shootin eye, all I'd see is a big blur for a rear sight.
You fellas with good eyesight sure are blessed, and your shootin shows it, good on ya!!!
Thanks Bernie!!

Well, actually I have tried it. I have a good assortment of dovetailed buckhorn sights that I've aquired over the years, I layed one on the barrel in the position of the Smith and it was totally unusable, or I would have ordered one in a heart beat, I love the looks of it, even for $140. For my spectacled eyesight, a buckhorn sight needs to be a good piece down the barrel for me to see just one rear sight, if it's closer that about 18" or so, I have a hard time figuring out which one of the rear sights is clearest!! A peep works great up close, but open sights are a totally different story.

sorry to here that tim you would have loved this sight it is perfect for the buff classic . i would have kept the fp sight but could not handle having to carry a little screw driver to unlock the windige and elevation setings all the time. but mainly the elevation if williams put kurneld locking screws on the fp it would be the perfect sight for hunting.ps as you can see from the pick i had a anular quick release lock screw

Very nice looking sight and rifle you have there Bernie! Thanks for posting the pics. I need to get me one of those Buffalo Classics one of these days. I cannot use a center fire rifle where I hunt deer, so it would be just for fun. I could put that sight on my .50 caliber Huntsman, that would be fun too.

quick i did not mean the slide locking screw i got one from williams i am refering to the little screws that lock the ajust ment nobs they would be nice a little longer with kurneld nobs on the end of them that way all the ajustments could be maid with your fingers ithink that would make the sight more user friendley.
