Here are some more pictures. Just about done but have to put the project on hold until I'm back from the Black Powder Cartridge Nationals in Raton NM.

That looks like it would just about fit my 1/2 scale "Pack Parrott"!
You wanna build TWO more?

bpsteve,

It looks Great so far. Nice job on the metal work too! So, who did your wheels come from? Did you have to go up or down an 1" in diameter?
If you make it idiot proof, then, someone will make a better idiot.

Really looks nice. Did you turn the barrel? You forgot the powder can so I can tell how big it is. We newbys just don't know!

The wheels in the picture are 24" which is oversize for 1/2 scale so I'm going to try some wheels from a company in Texas that are 20" in dia. True 1/2 scale for this carriage would be 21"
Since these picture were taken I've finished most of the metal parts and will be ready for finish soon. Planing on brass plating the barrel and painting the carriage olive green with the irons black.
Thanks for all the kind words

Plate the barrel bronze...the originals were bronze.

I noticed that Eastwoods has "Bronze" powder coat (looks pretty good in the pic). It has gotten me thinking. Anybody powdercoat a barrel ? I could see masking the muzzel and around the touch hole. I might try it on the Gribeauval GB mortar. I can get 18" + in my PC oven.... MIKE

PS cannon looks GREAT!!
