barrel insert for 20 ga in .357

As I posted in the thread yesterday about the 7.62x25 handi I'm going to make an insert barrel for my stevens 940  20 guage shotgun
(not exactly a handi but they are very simillar in desighn to  a handi/pardner so IO figuredI'd put this in hear)  in that thread my concern was the diameter of the  firing pin and it's corresponding hole in the breech face, While home for lunch today I did a quick measurement of the firing pin hole,a and it measures .120", a small pistol primer prmer  is not much bigger in diameteter than this,if I recall they are .175 or .180" so I'm worried it'll not do well especially with full house loads. After going to the library, and checking out a gunsmithing book,I read in it where the author suggests drilling and tapping the breech for an 6-48 screw then drilling that screw with a #50 drill .070" tinning both screw ,and the tapped hole with soft solder, heating then  inserting screw into breech block, finishing flush with breech face. Then turning old firing pin down to match new hole, or make whole new firing pin.

After thinking on it for a while,I decided to make the screw first,so went out and found a 5/16" screw in the bolt can in the garage, it had 3 hash marks on the head so this is a little harder than  a standard run of the mill bolt I trimmed down all of the head of the bolt and a portion of the shank brought it down to .138 in dia then set the lathe to cut a 48 pitch thread and made a screw, it turned out okay, lookd  fairly good. I did notice the screw seems to be a little larger in dia, at the end farthest from the lath chuck after several passes  the threads were cut so I put a head shape onto the screw while still in the lathe then cut it off using drill press, anda file It cleaned up nicely then so I then cut a flat head into the head of the scrrew.
The only problem with the screw bushing is I just notuced after coming in for the night, and looking at the screw in hand that I cut a left handerd (doh) I will keep y'all informed of my progress take care now
Catch in w/ you all

Keep us informed and good luck on your project.

I had to turn a LH thread a couple of times and it was different seeing it cut left to right.
