anyone use a bushnell banner on your handi?
« on: December 08, 2008, 06:25:31 AM »
im looking for an inexpensive high power scope, top power 16-18, for use on no recoiling and little recoiling guns like my .243 and 17 hummer.  do the banner series hold up well?  accurate and consistent adjustment?  thanks~mike.
I've got to many but never enough!!!!

I have several Banners on rifles up to .308 and have never had a problem. Good scopes for the money, in my opinion.

I have banners on several of my handi barrels and am very happy with them, but none are more powerful than 3-9 power.  They are clear, bright and very reasonably priced.  I have looked at the banner, and the bushnell trophy in a 6-18 and 6-24 power, and am not nearly as impressed with them as the lower powered models.  They seem to get very hazy and washed out at the higher magnifications.  I am now considering a bushnell legend, or a Mueller APV.  Both seem to be much better at the higher magnification, and still reasonably priced.

Have had a 3x9 Banner on a 30-06 Handi for at least 3 years. Held up fine through a lot of rounds finding the right hand load for it.

I had a similar generic Chinese Bushnell store brand on a Handi-Hornet. Was pretty impressed with it, but I wouldn't recommend going higher than the 4-12X.
