444M was introduced around 1964, so it only saw limited use in the slaughter of the bison. ::)
I better be quite about the 444M, as I would like to be sitting a blind with my 1972 444S on opening morning of deer gun season. 8)

Our Fish & Game guy gave a little talk about this at the Athens Fish & Game Club meeting.  He encouraged us to submit comments on line, and also to go to the open houses.  He said that last time only three folks showed up, and one was an ODNR retiree.  Kind of discouraging for them.

I have already commented on line!

Probably why they had the early mz hunters show up to 1 place to check there deer. 1 place per area. They appeared to be a bit lonely and enjoyed the company of deer hunters. Goodbye Bikerbeans.

Mule, your comment tells me what I think I know.

Is Biker Beans dead? And is he Tom in Ohio? Anyone know when he died if so? I'd like to annotate his profile to show it.

Tom Nolan, ( bikerbeans) passed away this afternoon (02-04-2021). I talked with his son Roy and he said Tom was comfortable and his family had a good day yesterday with him and he was at peace when he passed.
Tom told me recently that he made it 16 years longer than the doctors said he would and he had a good life. Tom has been in the hospital since the first week of January, he somehow got the Covid-19 virus and for the first couple weeks was battling that and beat it. For the past weeks since negative he was on a very high dose of oxygen and wasn’t allowed any visitors besides his family. Tom was 65 years old.

Tom will be missed by many.

Actually they didn't. It is same as Schofield which they have listed as .45 S&W.

Bill,  Believe me that was Bikerbeans making fun of the new Ohio list of approved calibers for deer rifle hunting.
As you know forever, people like to correct others that use the term “ Long Colt “ as the name of the cartridge is 45 Colt.

But the way the OH laws are now written, any strait walled cartridge.357 cal. and larger up to 50 cal.is a legal deer hunting cartridge in rifle or pistol.
So actually the Schofield would be a legal cartridge but back in 2014 Ohio specifically named each legal cartridge and they listed both the 45 Colt and the 45 Long Colt as legal and that is what they were making fun of .

Here is a pic of bikerbeans. This was about 2 years before he passed away. For a guy who had to wear a large oxygen bottle on his back constantly he was very active and loved to hunt and fish.
His screen name bikerbeans is from a baked beans dish he was fond of making which had plenty of jalape񯳠peppers in the beans , the hotter the better.
Tom had a great sense of humor and always had a funny and witty answer that was natural for him.
Before his lungs were damaged he could bench press 330 lbs.

The next Maumee Valley Gun show I'll be at is in April, 21/22 in Bowling Green. Next Lima show will be the first weekend in May. Slowing down on the shows I do. Arthritis in the back is catching up, and can't keep loading and unloading the steel targets like I use to. This getting old crap is for the birds! :'(

thats a round i thought would take off. maybe if it would have been intoduced today with the revival of lever gun sales. its a fine deer bear and pig gun and i wouldnt be shy about using it on close range elk and moose. i once had a big bore in it and got talked out of it. it was one of the most accurate lever guns ive owned

Marlin offered a 375W at one time,
and I sure wanted one, but never found
a decent one at a decent price.
Now they're priced way out in the
