The biggest part of the problem is the left wing leaning news, especially TV news. They, being owned and ran by Democrats or Communists, hate absolutely EVERYTHING Trump is doing. They want instant results.
1. Tariffs will work, especially negotiating with other countries about lowering theirs. Sweden, Israel, Japan, and Austrailia are already wanting to negotiate lower Tariffs. Give it time. Even a moderate Democrat congressman came out and said he would be ok with a 10% across the board tariff to help with the budget.
2. I think the overall goal of Tariffs is an idea floating around to get rid of income tax for everyone making under $150,000 a year. This would be most of the middle class as well as the working poor.
3. Tariffs also will bring factories and production back to the US. Ford is already going to close it's Canadian and Mexican factories and move them back to the US. This will take time 18 months to 2-3 years, but it would increase the US industrial production.
4. DOGE is finding abuse and spending problems and will find more. Overhaul of the government is long overdue. It is NOT the governments money, it is OUR money they are saving. When corruption is found, it is the ones benefiting from corruption squealing the loudest doing the corruption. Hmm, mostly Democrats.
Problem is like I said, everyone wants instant results. The stock market is currently dominated by younger people in their 30's to 50's. They do not remember when the US made everything. In the 1950's and 60's, we did make absolutely everything, TV's, cars, vacuum cleaners, appliances, even small appliances, clothing, shoes, everything. We produced all our food. We only imported bananas, coffee, and such. We did import some raw metals like titanium from Brazil and maybe some from Canada. We also produced, in the 1950's at least, all of our oil. Due to this we had a much larger middle class.
Most of the problems started with the "Free Trade Agreements" under Clinton. As Ross Perot said, there would be a giant sucking sound taking out most of our manufacturing. It did just as he said it would. Prior to Clinton we had already lost a lot of electronic production to Japan and Taiwan with trade agreements with them. We still made most everything else. The nail in the coffin of our industrial production was the deal Clinton made with China in 1998. That took almost all the textile and shoe manufacturing out of the US, as well as steel production. China went from a Soviet style communist society to a Facist style allowing capitalism, but under their "one party rule" like NAZI Germany, making them extremely dangerous. Russia is similar to China today, but only has about 140 million people and loosing population, making them less powerful and spread thin even though they have nukes.
I know I am rambling, but it said "Deep Thoughts"
