Got a question for you experts....I recently bought a Rem 760 in 300 Savage, 1952 vintage, that wears a B&L scope and mount. The scope lens have yellowed through age and aren't all as clear as I'd prefer. Rather than replacing the scope, I've been considering taking it off and reinstalling an iron sight on the barrel but haven't got a clue what the original rear sight looked like. I can't find any pictures or descriptions on the web or in gun parts catalogs. I do have rear open sights from Savage and Marlin which I could fall back on, but it would be nice to get a Remington original. Any pics or sources would be most appreciated.

This is off an early model 760. It is a dove tail sight.

Thanks, that's very similar to the Savage rear sight that I have. At least it won't look out of place.

The rear sight on my 1954 760 was missing when i got it, but I scoped it with a 2-7X32 and just installed a sight blank.
