Title: serial# with a star

  I have a prewar 22cal. outdoorsman that has a star after the serial @ on the bottom of the grip.do any of you guys know what this means?  Thanks.

If it is a Five sided star, that means it was back to the factory for some work. Possibly a refinish or internal parts problem but that is how the factory marked them once they returned for service work. If you remove the grips you will more than Likely find a date code on the side of the grip frame as 4-1-55 which would mean April 1st 1955 is when they worked on it. They also commonly stamped the date codes as this 4.1.55 which means the same. I hope this helps, Hammerdown
