Title: Turner Kirkland Rifle

I saw a rifle in a gun shop marked down from $450 to $300.  It is a long rifle manufactured for Turner Kirkland.  I figure it's early Dixie Gun Works.  Looks like a 40 caliber with a heavy barrel, percussion,  full stock, and a patch box.  Are these rifles good shooters?  The price isn't bad.

If it was made for Turner, I would say it's a one-holer with the right load.

That sounds like the original Dixie Squirrel Rifle and was one of the first, if not The First imported replica muzzleloading rifle. Turner had them made in Belgium and they were OK quality but not to be compared with first rate guns built today. I would need to have a good look at the bore with a bright bore light before I could get excited about that one.
