We have probably nearly all enjoyed this old hymn. In 1857, a Dr Wm S Pitts was travelling through a valley near Nashua, Iowa. He was struck with the beauty of the spot and envisioned a littl brown church there in the vale. Right off he wrote a song, picturing just what he visualized.. Imagine his surprise when a few years later , travelling through the same valley..he discovered that a church had been built there.
Listen to the beautiful voice of Dolly Parton as she sings that old hymn..also see a photo of the actual church..still in use..

When Dolly recorded this she was a truly sweet, beautiful, young lady. She does a wonderful job; I also like the Statlers version.
