Would any current barrels be able to be modified to make this caliber.
-
The 204 Ruger could be used I think. But with the only one I know that has been done I think they had issues with the extractor /ejector. I believe Stimpylu32 has the gun and I believe Larry Trotter did most of the work. I would contact Stimpy to see if it is still without issues and/or the particulars. If I didn't have an original Remington I would be checking this out myself. Hope this helps and good luck it is a fun rimfire round just wish I could find one of the Taurus revolvers that were said to be made. Kurt

The 204 Ruger chamber is too big to rechamber to 5mm Rem mag, you'd have to make a stub from a 204 barrel or blank or rebore a .17 cal rimfire barrel if anyone does that.

Sorry bout that I was in a hurry forgot to mention that stimpy's was a stub. Thanks for the correction Tim. I would think cost wise you would be better off going with the 17HMR. Very similar velosity but the 5 does it with a 30gr bullet. Depending on your real want the 17 Hornet or the others may be your ticket. Savage or some one else was supposed to be doing a 5mm in 2008 as was the Taurus revolver but I just don't think any of them got any farther than to get thier pictures taken for cataloges. Kurt

Hard searches may produce an original Remington but the could be priced $300-$600. i got very lucky with finding mine. Kurt
