Title: Winchester all brass NO 12 petal top shell?
Post by: THE_HUNTERIAM on October 06, 2012, 02:41:55 PM
Found an interesting live all brass shell at a gun show. Head stamp says WINCHESTER No 12 and the primer intact stamped "w". The crimp is actually small petals bent in over a possible waxed over charge wad. No other markings. Told pre WW1 probably. Old and quite tarnished. Ideas of the load? When shaken almost sounds like double ought in there...

The round you have may be 00 buck. I have several that are loaded the same. I also have several that are loaded with number 6's and 8's. I found all these rounds and a couple boxes of 10 gauge paper shells in an old house being torn down.
