Title: bow suggestions
Post by: vsd79 on September 14, 2004, 10:28:40 AM
ok I have narrowed it down to these three bows mathews outback, bowtech mightymite or the patriot, and the hoyt vipertec. Anyone have these bows to give me an opinion? . To be honest  i am upgrading from a pse nova so they all feel great to me so i am looking for some outside help.  I have a short draw length that i also have to consider of 27"
to make sure snails don't pass my arrows.
thanks

The Bowtech since you have a shorter DL...The Hoyts are great bows But thier short DL setups lack a little to be desired...This is being posted by an ADVID Hoyt owner so believe me it hurt like hell to say that  . The Mathews...well I just wont get into that..Dont feel like another fight today  :)

vsd79, I am a Mathews fan and would never switch.    With that said, you are going to get votes for every different bow you mentioned. The best thing I can tell you is to shot all of them, and make your decision. You will find which one meets all your needs. I like how compact the Mathews Outback is. I am considering getting one, but I will keep my Mathews Legacy and Mathews Q2XL as well.  :D  Let us know what you decide.

Wow. I see we got one with expensive tastes  :)  Outback, phew, that would clean me out of dough so fast my bank account would spin. But I agree w/ RedHawk. I'm getting into archery and u bet it, I'm getting a Mathews. A Mathews FX to be exact. Cheapest one they make, but hey, it's still a Mathews :P . Good luck, whatever your choice might be!  :D

Those are all good bows.  If they meet your needs, feel comfortable and style of shooting, you won't go wrong with any of them.

For some people (me included) the Mathews grips are too wide.  I had to replace mine.

If I were making a choice between the bows that you listed, I would look at the pro shop that you are buying from.  Do you have a good relationship with him?  Will he give you good service after the sale?  Can he help you with your shooting?

Some places are Pro Shops, others are just archery shops.

Another factor to consider is the smoothness of a bow.  Moving up from a Nova, any of the bows that you listed will feel very sooth.   However, you might also try the Bowtech Justice.  It's about the same ATA as the Outback and Mighty Mite, but very smooth with little hand shock.

Good luck, let us know which one you pick.
