Does anyone have any info on the taylor brand sharps. Seen some in 45-70 on gun broker. What cheap brand of sharps are known for soft metal. Also what about the IAR brand and of course pedersoli. I will be shooting modern day powder something close to but a little above the factory loads. taylors seam to be made by armi sport never heard of them???
Thanks

hey pard
they say that the pedersoli is supposed to be the best of the import sharps
and with the prices on them they should be.
i own an iab sharps and it shoots great and i got it for less than half of what the pedersoli's go for. i think the soft metal thing was something that used to be a problem but not as of late. im building a new singleshot 45-70 and if it works out good then i might be selling my sharps.
if i were you and money wasnt a big issue i would keep an eye out for a used pedersoli. i know there are shilos and c sharps out there but from the ones i have seen i dont see a thousand to fifteen hundred dollar difference over the imports.
i have even sat down and shot right along side sharps costing three to five times the price of mine and put holes in their holes out to 500 yards

Mike, I've owned a Taylor and they are pretty good. I never shot anything but smokeless in it and it shot pretty good from what I could tell. I'm 52 yrs old and didn't have a peep sight on it and I can't see barrel mounted sight well enough to shoot a good group. The only thing I saw that could have been better was that the fireing pin was soft where the hammer contacted it. Right after I bought it I saw Pedersoli's and Taylor's setting side by side at Cherry's at Greensboro N.C. . I have to say the Pedersoli does look a little better , but I wouldn't hesitate to buy another Tayor either.

I owned an IAB Sharps, and it was a great gun. Mine was in .45-70, and shot well. Not sure who makes them for Taylor?
